UN peace operations are in crisis. Despite a rise in global insecurity, the Security Council has not mandated a new peacekeeping mission since 2014. A shift away from prevailing templates and bureaucratic approaches towards more tailored, adaptive, and people centered mission models is needed if peacekeeping operations are to respond effectively to new security threats and challenges.
