Understanding Transnational Organized Crime in Africa

Dear distinguished alumni of the Africa Center,

It is my pleasure to invite you to join us for a new webinar series, “Professional Development for Countering Transnational Organized Crime.” These webinars will be held once a month: you are welcome to attend the entire virtual series or only particular sessions that might be of special interest to you. The online conversations will explore the political economy of transnational organized crime and ways to combat it and strengthen citizen security. Speakers will include both academics and practitioners with experience in this field.

The webinars will be held on Zoom, with interpretation available in English, French, and Portuguese. Each month we will send out an announcement to register for the next webinar session. You will receive a link to the session after you register. Additionally, the faculty member leading this series, Dr. Catherine Kelly, and other colleagues will be convening open discussions once month for anyone who wants to discuss an issue in more depth.

This is the first of a number of new webinars. Others will explore topics such as cybersecurity, counter terrorism, and women, peace, and security. While we look forward to the day when we can once again meet in person, we hope that you will join us for these virtual discussions. Announcements and links for subsequent webinars will be sent separately.

You will find below a link to the information note about the webinar series and a program calendar listing the exact time of all the webinars. If you have any questions or encounter any difficulties with registration, please contact Mr. Ilias El ghormli by email: [email protected], by phone: (+1) 703 859-6637, or WhatsApp: (+1) 301 675-5509.

Sincerely,

Kate Almquist Knopf
Director
