Regional Engagement Manager
Luisa Chau has been a member of the Africa Center family since 2008. She began her career at the Africa Center as an Academic Associate, supporting Africa Center faculty in the development and execution of academic programs that sought to build strategic capacity and foster long-term, collaborative relationships with Africa. Ms. Chau progressed to the role of Senior Program Manager where she was responsible for management, control, development, coordination, and execution of assigned programs.
In her current role as Regional Engagement Manager, Ms. Chau is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of alumni community outreach programs and partnership activities for the countries in her area of responsibility: Angola, Botswana, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, São Tomé e Principe, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Ms. Chau has a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Chau is a native Portuguese and English speaker and grew up speaking Mandarin Chinese and Hakka dialect at home.
