Operations Advisor, Africa Military Education Program
Tim Mitchell is the Operations Advisor for the Africa Center’s Africa Military Education Program (AMEP), which helps its partner nations develop, improve, and expand their professional military education institutions. AMEP is currently conducting 32 projects in 17 sub-Saharan Africa countries.
Mr. Mitchell is a former U.S. Army Foreign Area Officer with extensive experience in Africa. He is a graduate of the Tunisian Command and Staff College and served as the Senior Defense Officer/Defense Attaché in Chad, Tanzania, and Liberia. Tim is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds M.S. degrees from Duke University and the U.S. Army War College. During his military career, Mr. Mitchell taught American politics at U.S. Military Academy West Point and national security strategy at the U.S. National War College.
