The Africa Center for Strategic Studies held the Yaoundé Conde of Conduct Maritime Zones A & D Workshop in the InterContinental Miramar Hotel from 10 to 13 December of 2024 in Luanda, Angola. Approximately fifty participants from the Navy, Coast Guard, maritime regional organizations attended the workshop to discuss ways to strengthen maritime zones A and D in the Gulf of Guinea. Senior decision-makers from Angola, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Republic of Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe had the opportunity to assess the operability of each country’s Maritime Operations Center and evaluate national maritime security strategies. The workshop opened with several high-ranking keynote speakers: U.S. Ambassador Robert Scott, U.S. Ambassador James Story, Angola Ambassador Felisberto dos Prazeres Martins, Vice-Admiral Eugénio Carlos André Tomás, and Dr. Assis Malaquias. One of the highlights of the week was the visit to the Port of Luanda, Angola’s main seaport and its most important logistical infrastructure. A special thanks to Mr. Eduardo António Samba for organizing the visit to the Port of Luanda.
