By the Africa Center for Strategic Studies

May 16, 2016

The swearing in a of a government of national unity has yet to heal the rifts caused by the war that broke out in South Sudan less than two years into its independence. “This fragility is a result of the fact that we did not have comprehensive security sector reform” in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, says Luka Biong Deng. The former minister of presidential affairs for South Sudan discussed the challenges to and prospects for peace with the Africa Center in May 2016.

Dr. Luka Biong Deng was interviewed by Paul Nantulya, a research associate with the Africa Center for Strategic Studies.
