This seminar is designed to acquaint recently accredited and resident African Defense Attachés and African embassy personnel with defense and security portfolios with the structures and workings of the U.S. Government. The program will also familiarize them with U.S. security policies and programs pertaining to Africa.
Plenary sessions to address the following topics:
- The U.S. foreign policy-making process, including the role of Congress and the inter-agency
- U.S. policies and programs in Africa, including the role of AFRICOM
- The role of non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and the media in policy development and analysis in the United States
