The Africa Center for Strategic Studies and Swedish Defense University invite you to the hybrid event “Peace Operations Leadership: a Conversation with Former Force Commanders”. The event will launch the publication of the book Military Diplomacy: The Experience and Leadership of Former United Nations Force Commanders in the Service of Peace. During the event, broadcast from the National Defense University’s campus, senior leaders responsible for overseeing and implementing peace operations will discuss the successes they have had, the challenges contemporary peace operations face, and how the lessons they have learned can be applied to advancing Africa’s regional security architecture.

Program Objectives

  • Share and document lessons learned in peacekeeping from former senior commanders of UN peacekeeping operations.
  • Generate ideas, debate, discussion and highlight recommendations to improve Africa’s peacekeeping architecture.
