On September 19, 2024, the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (Africa Center) hosted a networking dinner in Accra, Ghana, bringing together approximately 20 members of the Ghana Alumni Chapter executive committee, select distinguished community members, International Military Education & Training alumni, and Africa Center faculty and staff. Colleagues from the U.S. Embassy also attended, strengthening the collaboration between the alumni chapter and the embassy.
The event provided a platform for the chapter’s executive committee to present their program plans for the coming years and discuss priorities with the Africa Center team. The evening also included a briefing from the faculty lead of the “Counter Disinformation Workshop,” which was held in Accra during the same period.
Participants engaged in discussions about the chapter’s goals, which include organizing webinars on topics like security, governance, and leadership to foster knowledge-sharing among members. Plans to introduce annual membership dues and pursue sponsorships were highlighted as critical steps toward ensuring financial sustainability for future initiatives. Expanding membership, offering training programs, and creating opportunities for mentorship and networking were also key areas of focus.
The event underscored the Africa Center’s commitment to fostering enduring partnerships with Ghanaian alumni and supporting their efforts to promote peace, security, and development. The evening concluded with a renewed sense of collaboration as attendees expressed their dedication to building stronger connections between the alumni chapter, the Africa Center, and the U.S. Embassy.
