On May 15, 2024, the Africa Center for Strategic Studies hosted a networking dinner in Abuja, Nigeria, in conjunction with the “Nigeria Defense Governance Forum 2024.” Bringing together 18 executive committee members from the ACSS Nigeria alumni chapter, distinguished community members, Africa Center faculty, staff, and U.S. Embassy colleagues from the Office of Security Cooperation and Political Affairs, the event provided a crucial platform for alumni leaders to present the chapter’s strategic plans for the coming years. Discussions centered on recent achievements, including policy recommendations to the National Security Advisor and active participation in ECOWAS regional security workshops. Key topics such as mediation strategies, non-kinetic approaches to Countering Violent Extremism, and governance challenges were highlighted as Chapter priorities, reflecting the chapter’s commitment to enhancing security and stability.
Throughout the evening, lively exchanges between Africa Center personnel and alumni leaders fostered meaningful dialogue and exploration of collaborative opportunities. The event underscored the Africa Center’s ongoing dedication to facilitating constructive partnerships and dialogue in Nigeria and across Africa. The gathering concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to fostering enduring collaborations that address complex security challenges through informed engagement and strategic initiatives.
