Addressing the Diversity of African Terrorists: From Foot Soldiers to Foreign Fighters

Suspected al Shabab militants

This project fosters an evidence-based analysis of, and a frank and open dialogue about, the different profiles, positions, motivations, experiences, commitments, and interests of African terrorists. It leads to the production of a policy-relevant publication for African and non-African policy makers, practitioners, and scholars. African governmental and nongovernmental defense/security and civilian leaders will gain a more nuanced understanding of terrorist participation in Africa, and they will be able to socialize and use the publication produced through this event to inform their decision-making.
