What is a Community Chapter?

One of the Africa Center’s missions is to develop empowered networks of current and future African military and civilian leaders. On a very practical level, it is almost impossible to maintain quality relationships and to develop targeted programs for 3,700 individual community members throughout Africa and elsewhere in the world. ACSS community chapters are alumni associations. They are formed by community members in a single country. They are independent, non-governmental, non-political organizations. Community chapters provide the organizational structure needed for ACSS and the US government to develop and implement programs that promote long-term relationships through which African and US leaders can develop a common understanding of defense-related issues on the Continent.
