In response to the violence following Kenya’s 2007 presidential election, the electoral commission has introduced several new technologies. Biometric voter registration and electronic results tallying and transmission will improve the reliability and speed of vote counting, while greater cooperation with the media and new authorities allowing the commission to prosecute electoral irregularities and violence will ensure more transparent, secure, and credible electoral process.
