March 2009 – Members of the Burkina Faso Community Chapter (ACESA/BF) have celebrated numerous personal promotions over the past several months. This has led to the development of a Chapter “Promotions Day,” which is a proposed annual event to be held at the beginning of each year to celebrate community members’ achievements and to reconnect with other members.
Colonel Emile Ouedraogo – Burkina Faso: 10 September 2008: Colonel Emile Ouedraogo has been named Minister of Security of Burkina Faso. He previously served in the Burkina Faso Armed Forces Department of the Chief of Staff. Colonel Ouedraogo has been an avid supporter of the Africa Center through his participation as both a participant and facilitator of the Next Generation of African Military Leaders Course and his active membership in the Burkina Faso community chapter.
H.E. Djibril Yipéné Bassolé – Burkina Faso – 20 July 2008 : H.E. Djibril Yipéné Bassolé has been named the new Chief Mediator for the UN Mission in Darfur. He will start his post on August 1, and be based in Darfur’s main town of el-Fasher. H.E. Bassolé participated in the Africa Center’s West Africa Ministerial Symposium in Dakar, Senegal in July 2003. He formerly served as Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
