General Babacar Gaye – Senegal – 1 October 2008: General Babacar Gaye has left his position as Head of the United Nations Mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC). At the time of his nomination of MONUC Force Commander by the Secretary General of the United Nations, General Gaye was Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Germany, Austria and to the UN in Vienna. General Gaye participated in the 2003 West Africa Ministerial Symposium in Dakar, Senegal.

Lieutenant Colonel Birame Diop – Senegal – 15 July 2008 : Lieutenant Colonel Birame Diop has been offered a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship at the International Forum for Democratic Studies by the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, DC. This highly-competitive program brings together a distinguished group of activists, journalists, practitioners and scholars committed to promoting democracy worldwide. LtCol Diop is an active member of the Africa Center community, participating in several ACSS programs as both participant and facilitator since 2006. He currently serves as the Chief of Air Operations Division within the Senegalese Armed Forces.
